People ARE the Difference
CAIB | Level II Licensed Broker
Pamela grew up in a farming community in eastern Saskatchewan close to Yorkton. After graduating from high school, she moved to Regina to attend the University of Regina and study Journalism. In doing so, she stumbled into an insurance position.
Pamela obtained her insurance license and started working with the public in a personal lines capacity. Not long after, she leaned into commercial accounts and sales. After only a year touching Personal Lines, she transitioned over to commercial sales and service on a book of business.
While employed in Regina, Pamela completed the four levels for her professional CAIB designation in 2001. Shortly after completing her CAIB, an opportunity presented itself in Cold Lake, Alberta for a Commercial Account Executive with Doherty Insurance. Choosing to relocate to Cold Lake saw her remain with Doherty until the brokerage sold in 2012. Within a year of the purchase, Pamela was promoted to the Operations Manager for all three branches of the buyer’s organization, Bridge Financial Insurance. The offices were located in Cold Lake, Bonnyville and Edmonton.
In 2019, Bridge was sold to Brokerlink. Pamela discovered that her vision and values did not align with an insurance company-owned brokerage.
In the summer of 2019, Pamela opened Lake City Insurance, a local, independently owned brokerage and one Partnered with Excel Lloydminster, a Partner in Excel Insurance Group.
These days, Pamela spends her days working at growing her business, learning new skills and enjoying every minute of it.
When not at work, Pamela enjoys spending time with her husband, Darcey, and her two kids, Xander and Lexi. An avid golfer, Pamela can often be found on a local course. She loves the outdoors and spends time doing yard work or boating. In winter, Pamela spends more time at home, visiting with friends, and reading a ton. Don’t be surprised if you see her cheering for Christa in her competitive curling bonspiels.
Ask her anytime for a diet Pepsi from her fridge, herbal tea from the cupboard, or about the hidden stash of chocolate or sweets. Come in for a visit and she might even share.

Account Executive – Personal & Commercial
Born and raised in Cold Lake, Christa Shulman is a Cold Lake native through and through. Her parents are long-term business owners within the community, enabling close connections to business owners and friends.
Christa started her insurance career in 2003 at Doherty Insurance. Learning from humble beginnings, she started with reception and then moved to working as an account assistant, learning the business by ‘pushing paper.’ She then moved into servicing a Personal Lines book of business.
In 2006, Christa took at 6-year “maternity leave” and welcomed three children to her family: Ayva, Karson, and Kethan. Meanwhile a close friend in the industry continuously sought her out to return. Starting part time (and with those three kids at home), Christa began working from home re-familiarizing herself with the work and the workflows as an account assistant once again.
In short order, Christa found herself back in the office servicing a Personal lines book of business. A position opened up in the Commercial Department and, being a person that enjoys challenge, she jumped at the opportunity.
Customer service has always been Christa’s top priority – whether it be personal or commercial clients. Her approach is one of VIP service, regardless of the size of the account or what premium they pay. She prides herself on exceptional delivery and seeks validation of the quality in seeing a referral to a friend or family member. Referrals from her clients reinforces her belief that “service sells.”
In her personal time, Christa’s passion is curling, a hobby enjoyed for more than 20 years. The last three years she has taken up competitive, mixed doubles curling. She and her curling partner travel throughout the province to attend bonspiels – and they work hard to qualify for provincials each year. In Curling, Christa finds an outlet for her competitive nature, and enjoys the game, people and adventure of the sport.
She is actively involved within the community and volunteers for numerous board positions. She is involved with all the sports that her children are a part of including dance, hockey, soccer, and school sports.
If you have known Christa for any length of time, you know you will find her at the curling or hockey rinks during the winter and the golf course in the summer. She is always up for a visit and a drink with a friend, (preferably alcoholic if after business hours), but chai lattes work too.

Andrea was born and raised in Strathmore, Alberta. She moved to Cold Lake with her family in 2000, shortly after her brother was posted to CFB Cold Lake. She came for a visit, and never left! She met her husband Scott in 2002, and they were married in 2006. They were blessed with three wonderful children, Matthew, Anna, and Cameron.
Andrea owned and operated her own nail salon, Andrea’s Nails, for 12 years before choosing to be a full time mom. Andrea decided to return to the work force after 5 years at home, as a Receptionist with Bridge Financial Insurance in 2016. While employed with Bridge she obtained her Level 1 Insurance license and started in a broker position in 2017.
In 2019, Bridge Financial sold to a large corporate brokerage and Andrea moved to a remote brokering position, again working from home for a small brokerage based out of Edmonton. This was a perfect fit for her and her family during the challenges we all faced in 2020. After 2 years, the opportunity to work with her favourite team presented itself and she has now joined Lake City Insurance.
In her personal time, Andrea has been a volunteer on the executive board for Cold Lake Minor Soccer since 2015 as the Registrar and Public Relations Coordinator. Together with her fellow volunteers, they have grown the love of the sport in Cold Lake.
